This month’s LMCC theme will be health justice, or the correlation between social factors and the dispensation of health care and medical education. We will be reading Olivia Banner’s recent article “Structural Racism and Practices of Reading in the Medical Humanities” as well as the introduction to the edited collection Gender Scripts in Medicine and Narrative by Marcelline Block and Angela Laflen. We will also have one optional reading, Jonathon Metzel’s and Helena Hansen’s article, “Structural Competency: Theorizing a New Medical Engagement with Stigma and Inequality.” All readings are now available!
