The November LMCC meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 17 at 5:30pm est and will be virtual! We’ll be using the same Zoom link from the past few semesters: https://unc.zoom.us/j/99228197675. If you have trouble with the Zoom link, please email either of the Co-Directors.

With participants’ permission, we plan to record all of our virtual meetings, to be shared only with members of LMCC. So if you miss a meeting, be sure to check out the recordings, which will be posted here on the LMCC website, where you can also check out recordings from our meetings from Fall 2020 and Spring 2021! (Please do not share those recordings with anyone outside of our LMCC community.)

For our November meeting, we’ll be discussing Re-Presenting Disability: Activism and Agency in the Museum, edited by Richard Sandell, Jocelyn Dodd, and Rosemarie Garland-Thomson (2010). Specifically, we’d like everyone to read the following:

  • Chapter 1: “Activist Practice” by Richard Sandell and Jocelyn Dodd (3-22)
  • Chapter 10: “Histories of Disability and Medicine: Reconciling Historical Narratives and Contemporary Values” by Julie Anderson and Lisa O’Sullivan (143-154)

These selections are available as a single .pdf document on the “Readings” page of the LMCC website. If you run into issues accessing the reading, just let us know. (See our email addresses on the Home page of this site).

As always, if you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out. This will be our final meeting of the fall semester, so watch out for announcements in December/January regarding meeting plans for the spring semester.

We look forward to meeting with you virtually for our final meeting of the fall!
