LMCC Co-Directors Rachel Warner and Paul Blom co-organized a panel to lead for the 2022 annual MLA Convention. Unfortunately, due to complications regarding COVID, their panel was delayed until this January for the 2023 annual MLA Convention.

Inspired by their joint interest in the health humanities and in their combined work with the LMCC, Rachel and Paul designed a potential special session panel, solicited papers, and created an exciting panel proposal that has been accepted as part of MLA’s Annual Convention. The convention will take place Jan. 5-8, 2023 in San Francisco, CA. Paul will serve as the Presider of the panel, and Rachel will serve as the Respondent for the panel, titled “Health, Medicine and Literature: Critical Intersections,” scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023.

Here is some more information about the convention as a whole as well as the main website for the 2023 annual convention; here is more information regarding their specific panel.

Rachel and Paul are excited and grateful for this opportunity and look forward to collaborating with other scholars in this field and then sharing these experiences with the rest of the LMCC! (They also want to thank Professors Jane Thrailkill and Kym Weed for their inspiration, guidance, and assistance in this process! They also want to thank the excellent scholars who submitted papers, especially the three amazing scholars selected for their panel! Rachel and Paul look forward to meeting them and discussing their work with them soon.)

If you’re a member of LMCC and have similar experiences or announcements to share, please send them to us so we can post them here and celebrate you as well!
