The Literature, Medicine, and Culture Colloquium (LMCC) at UNC is excited for the beginning of a new academic semester! Our first meeting for Fall 2024 will take place on Wednesday, August 28 at 5:30pm in UNC’s HHIVE Lab, also known as Gaskin Library or Greenlaw 524.
Note: All of our meetings this semester will take place at 5:30pm on the last Wednesday of each month in the HHIVE Lab.
If you can’t attend in person, you can always attend via our usual Zoom link: https://unc.zoom.us/j/99228197675. If you have trouble with the Zoom link, please email either of the Co-Directors.
For our August meeting, we’ll be trying something new and will discuss The Retrievals, a podcast from The New York Times by Susan Burton, Laura Starecheski, Julie Snyder, and Carla Pallone. Specifically, we plan to focus on the following:
- Episode 1: “The Patients” (06-29-2023)
- Episode 5: “The Outcomes” (08-03-2023)
We’ll include pertinent links on the “Readings” page of the LMCC website. Each episode is a little under an hour long and is accompanied by a transcript. All members of the UNC community have free access to The New York Times. If you run into trouble getting access, please contact one of the Co-Directors. (See our email addresses on the Home page of this site).
If you have any questions, please contact us directly. Please also feel free to share this info with other graduate or professional students who might be interested! We look forward to meeting with you all for an exciting discussion of this work!
