The Literature, Medicine, and Culture Colloquium (LMCC) at UNC is excited for our next meeting! We will meet on Wednesday, November 20 at 5:30pm in UNC’s HHIVE Lab, also known as Gaskin Library or Greenlaw 524.

Note: This will be our final meeting of the semester!

If you can’t attend in person, you can always attend via our usual Zoom link: https://unc.zoom.us/j/99228197675. If you have trouble with the Zoom link, please email either of the Co-Directors.

For our November meeting, we’ll be discussing All in Your Head: Making Sense of Pediatric Pain (University of California Press, 2015) by UNC’s own Mara Buchbinder, Professor of Social Medicine. Specifically, we’d like everyone to read the following:

  • Introduction (pp. 1-32)
  • Suggested optional reading: Any additional chapter of your choice

All members of the UNC community can access the full text of Buchbinder’s monograph online through the UNC Libraries. We’ve also posted .pdfs of these materials onto the “Readings” page of the LMCC website, including the book’s front matter and the table of contents (TOC). If you run into trouble getting access to the text, please contact one of the Co-Directors. (See our email addresses on the Home page of this site).

If you have any questions, please contact us directly. Please also feel free to share this info with other graduate or professional students who might be interested! We look forward to meeting with you all for an exciting discussion of this work!
