We are excited to congratulate LMCC member Camille Kroll on the recent publication of her academic article,
“‘I can’t take in every stray puppy’: How U.S. Pain Specialists Purify Pain Management through Opioid-Related Gatekeeping” in Social Science & Medicine!
Camille is a PhD student in UNC’s Department of Anthropology, with a focus on sociocultural medical anthropology (and a longtime member of LMCC).
In January 2025, Camille was gracious enough to allow LMCC to workshop her article-in-progress, a discussion from which we gained a variety of insights, both on the topic at hand and on crafting a scholarly journal article. She’s just shared with us the exciting news that her paper has been accepted for publication!
