The January 2022 LMCC meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 26 at 5:30pm est and will be virtual! We’ll be using the same Zoom link from the past few semesters: https://unc.zoom.us/j/99228197675. If you have trouble with the Zoom link, please email either of the Co-Directors. (All of our meetings for Spring 2022 will take place on the last Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm est and will be virtual using this same Zoom link.)

With participants’ permission, we plan to record all of our virtual meetings, to be shared only with members of LMCC. So if you miss a meeting, be sure to check out the recordings, which will be posted here on the LMCC website, where you can also check out recordings from our meetings from previous semesters as well! (Please do not share those recordings with anyone outside of our LMCC community.)

For our November meeting, we’ll be discussing Julian B. Carter’s 2007 monograph from Duke University Press: The Heart of Whiteness: Normal Sexuality and Race in America, 1880-1940. Specifically, we’d like everyone to read the introduction, “The Search for Norma.”

All members of the UNC community can access the full text of the book via the UNC Libraries here. We’ve also posted a .pdf of the front matter and introduction on the “Readings” page of the LMCC website. If you run into issues accessing the reading, just let us know. (See our email addresses on the Home page of this site).

As always, if you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to meeting with you virtually for our first meeting of the spring!
