Our October, 2021 meeting of LMCC took place on Wed. Oct. 27 at 5:30pm est via Zoom. We focused on Harriet A. Cover of Medical Apartheid by Harriet A. WashingtonWashington’s 2006 monograph Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present, especially the following selections:

  • The Introduction: “The American Janus of Medicine and Race”
  • Chapter 4: “The Surgical Theater: Black Bodies in the Antebellum Clinic”
  • Chapter 5: “The Restless Dead: Anatomical Dissection and Display”
