The Literature, Medicine, and Culture Colloquium (LMCC) at UNC will hold our next meeting on Wednesday, November 29 at 5:45pm in UNC’s recently renovated HHIVE Lab, also known as Gaskin Library or Greenlaw 524.

Note: All of our meetings this semester will take place at 5:45pm on the last Wednesday of each month in the HHIVE Lab. This will be our final meeting of the fall 2023 semester!

If you can’t attend in person, you can always attend via Zoom at our usual Zoom link: https://unc.zoom.us/j/99228197675. If you have trouble with the Zoom link, please email either of the Co-Directors.

For our November meeting, we’ll be discussing Eula Biss’s “The Pain Scale,” originally published in Harper’s Magazine, June 2005.

While you should be able to access this text online, we’ve also posted a .pdf of the text onto the “Readings” page of the LMCC website. If you run into trouble getting access to the text, please contact one of the Co-Directors. (See our email addresses on the Home page of this site).

If you have any questions, please contact us directly. Please also feel free to share this info with other graduate or professional students who might be interested! We look forward to meeting with you all for an exciting discussion of this work and for our final meeting of the fall 2023 semester!

Please also keep an eye out for our announcements regarding our meetings for the spring 2024 semester! We will be in touch soon (at the latest, over our Winter Break) with dates and other info!
